SSPRA PROFILE.




BACKGROUND OF THE SSPRA

This association started as an idea from the Mass communication students who were specialized in Public Relations in 2007 but the idea did not succeed to the large extent . But after  St. Augustine University Of Tanzania SAUT introduced the program of Public Relations and Marketing Program in 2008, the first students to pursue this program decide to go through with the idea of forming the Association that will help the students who are pursuing  Public Relations to acquire skills of PR as well as Marketing and advertising.

On 5/12/2009 the SSPRA(SAUT STUDENTS’ PUBLIC RELATIONS ASSOCIATION) was officially launched by Hon. Makongoro Mahanga who was the deputy Minister of Employment and Youth Development on behalf of Hon. Laurence Marsha Kego who was the Minister of home affair 2005-2010. The association started with 150 members in 2009 but the number of new members is rapidly increasing up to now it contains 320 active members.
THE AIM OF THE ASSOCIATION.
v To make sure that Public Relations professional is effectively understood and well accepted by the community of Tanzania.
v To sensitize the publics in accepting the Public Relations profession.
v To strengthen and show the importance and roles of Public Relations practitioners in the country.
v To train the SSPRA members to become competent in Public Relations and Marketing professional .

VISION:
To have a well educated cooperate society in Tanzania on the Public Relations professional.

MISSION: 
To impart the knowledge of Public Relations profession in order to understand,appreciate and reflect the community of Tanzania.
